I bought it including the memory expansion and CD/DVD-drive - special offer including a bag to carry it around. (maybe I should take some pictures of the MPC in the woods, maybe at a lake or visiting a museum)

When it comes out in 2012, I will buy one and connect it to my MPC 5Ks MIDI OUTPUT D.

I had a look at LinnDrum's homepage[1] and they wrote something along the lines "we will improve the design and concept and had lot of input from something called «the community»" I assume they read all this and in 2012 they'll release the 5k plus instead of a LinnDrum-something (Roger Linn bought back AKAI for 50 cents - stocks went down 2009). Maybe Obama started this change...

I just purchased another 5k myself. maxxed out 300gb hd.

your getting a neko? Im assuming the computer you have now is not as fast as a neko?

Will you be keeping the 5k or selling?

right out the house

getting the miko....the neko is a bit too large, and since im not that great on the keys, no need for 61 of them.

my PC is actually maxed out, i just want to be able to use it strictly for the mixing (until i can get a c|24 )....and i like the idea of having all my vsts inside one keyboard separate from my main daw screen, and also being able to carry it to other studios would be a big plus.

I'm keeping my mpc, i've got infinite drums and perc sounds and im always gonna be a fan of pads over keys/mouse for drum programming.....plus it'll be my sequencer as well.

And they said the MPC and ASR-10 were a good combo...

I just got the basic 5K for now... intend to get the memory and CD/DVD drive later. Baby Steps

Just the 5000 right now. Looking to order the memory expansion very soon. I don't really see the need for a cd/dvd drive. If Akai ever does the right thing, and makes the sampler more like the 4000. I would buy it in a heartbeat. I still have tons of Akai format disk I would love to use.
