Not so good............

Well i been using my 5k on nd off today nd ive had absolute nothing but trouble. Ive had it totally freeze about 6 times.
My hard drive keeps going awol on me and everytime i try to get hd recording sorted, it crashes. says i got version 1.02 that the newest yes?

try reinstalling the OS

i did, it works and then eventually happenend again, gonna format hd cause thats when the crash seems to occur when it accesses the hd

Same thing happened to me...

did you connect the mpc to the computer via USB anytime?

if so, did you make sure to unmount from the PC first, then disconnect the USB cord from the back of the MPC second?

if you didn't unmount the 5k in this order, then the 5k will have a greater chance of freezing up. To fix, you not only have to re-install O.S. but be sure to RE-INITIALIZE the system.

ahh ok that could be my problem..... what do you mean by re-initialize? turn the 5k off and back on?

Nah man had it again it reads (SEng) Not Operational.

anyone any idea?

Re-install the OS. Then after the OS is loaded, turn it back on while holding down the erase button which should initialize it.

If it doesn't work, it could be your hard drive. Hard drives do go bad.

i got a program on the comp that tests hard drives and it says that its perfectly healthy.

That's cool. But take the HD out of the equation. Just use the CF card drive and try to accomplish all your previous tasks. If you have no issues, then there is something wrong with the hard drive or something wrong with the way your 5K interfaces with the HD...perhaps.
