YESSSSSS!!!
Found a workaround. Basically if you do want to run a sliced pattern of audio through a lowpass filter to get that classic effect (as described earlier in this thread) without clicks and crackles, FORGET ABOUT THE PROGRAM FILTERS, use the lowpass filter in the regular effects section instead. This works for me at least - absolutely no clicks, whereas running the same sliced audio pattern through a fairly resonant program filter results in clicks all over the damn place.
I'm not a science spod or anything, but I reckon this issue must be something to do with where the program filters sit in the audio chain, and also where the 'regular' effects sit in that same chain.
It is such a relief to have found a workaround for this one.
