True! Instead, go buy the DSI Tetra. The synth engine in the 5000 is the same as in the Alesis Ion and Micron (and miniak). Nothing beats true analog synthesis, and the Tetra is analog. 8)

Keep the 4k... The overall 4k sound is probably ALOT better than the 5k... the 5k sounds REALLLYYY thin.... I never heard a 4k but Im sure it does have a better sound....

keep the 4k.. i owned both of them...

I'm sticking with software, but I wish I never sold the 4k now that I look back at it...

5k is really easy to use and the workflow is stupid easy, but aside from that, it doesnt really offer much that a 1k or 2500 with jjOS cant do...

I use a 5K. The internal synth is not junk, but its not very professional sounding. It kind of reminds me of the software synth that came with the original fruity loops program. You can make some usable patches, but there is a lot better stuff out there. I would keep your MPC if that is the only reason you want to upgrade.

I have a Virus TI2, MiniMoog Voyager, and DSI Prophet 08. They all make sounds that are more useful, original "kind of", and expressive. The 5000 works really well as a midi controller/recorder for them. I like that it has 4 midi outputs.

i have alesis micron and 5k and the synth could not sound more different.whats up??and further more ,dont trade your 4k for the 5k.the 4k is a pro machine.........the 5k is a sampler ect but not really very sofisticated soundwize(overall) comparitavly.ive be comparing there sound engines.you get a lot more detail from the 4k in my opinion.the 4k is honest and fairly flat reproduction and the 5k seems more coloured.some samples will sound better like that tho so whos to really say.4k will last forever like the classics.
