And that includes how many years of engineering at rates between $100-300/hour?

You understand I'm kidding right? The machine just feels cheap, but I wouldn't say it's a waste of money.

I have no idea, but I would estimate the amount of mpc5k out there to be under 10,000 units, maybe half of that number 5,000 . Where did I get this number from? From the air. It's just an estimate that just feels right based on the amount of people that post here etc etc

Twice I've asked AKAI/Numark this, and to no surprise, I never heard back from them.

I wonder if there's anyone on this forum who might know someone at AKAI who could perhaps find out?

i dont think they really sell you the MPC...it's more like they're giving you a trouble machine at an expensive price...

I think akai wants the guiness book...with 2 records...The O.S that lasted the longer (no matter if its only work 40% of the time the most important is setting a record.....lol)...And final record :the most BUGS reported on a sampler.

I'm not suprised they only sold a few, the 5000 is the hideously disabled brother of all other MPCs which is kept chained up in the basement. Kinda like Sloth from GOONIES

^ Sloth LOL
I'm gonna sample sloth on my perfectly working 5000  I think the whole bug thing is new user buying a piece of gear and wondering why it's not set up like FL studio.
