Take that shyt back and get a full refund ! Then, either get the Roland MV8800 or go software/hardware with NI's Maschine - you save money either way.
Give a little more, expect a little less ... but always put number 1 first !

So I talked to akai and they told me they would fix it for free. I obtained an RA number but honestly, I opened up the machine and saw the burned parts, I think I can fix this myself, and I would rather do that than have to wait 3 months for it to get fixed.
I am uploading a picture of the burned parts:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Warning that's a huge image but you can really see how the part is actually burned. That should not be that hard to fix shoyuld it?
Layer I will post a video of the smoke coming out and the LCD going out.

As you can see the Green part next to the yellow one, What is that, has sort of exploded and there is some grey substance coming out of it? My guess is that if I desolder that part and put one in my machine's lcd will work again.
Can an engineer tell me if this is correct?

You've been messing with this for a while now. maybe just send to instead of trial and error it yourself. If you make it worse it's going to cost you more money and time.

if it is a popped capacitor you need a cap kit for the mpc. I know a few guys do that on things like old arcade boards.. they get out the service manual and know exactly the numbers for caps they need to replace. That happens to capacitors after years and is not unnatural. I dont know the part you mean though because there is no pic of it... however when you say "popped with stuff leaking" that sound exactly like a popped cap.

check out the picture, it's the green part next to the yellow one, and yes I also thought it was a capacitor. Just did an image search and it turns out it is indeed a capacitor.
To be honest I'd rather give it to an electrician to fix or someone I know can fix it (I have a synth repair guy) than send it to akai. They take for **** ever and I doubt I will mess it even more if I replace the broken part. Akai should really just give me a new MPC instead of fixing the same broken one.
Here is the video of my screen burning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Py7TcleGCn4
That video is private right now, I am about to make it public because Akai needs to listen.

well I dont see a pic on the previous page... yeah I suspect a new cap kit will fix that. I assume that is what akai did the last time. Take it to your tech, it is simple work for a tech guy.
here is a vid of some guys talking a bit about changing caps on an arcade piece

changing caps is basically the same on all electronics...
It would be nice to know what is causing the original caps to dry out or pop so quickly though on such a new machine.

Oh jeezus fokkin' crips -- that's so far the scariest thing I've ever seen on YouTube. Akai needs to address this -- as you say, this is truly a fire-hazard. Thanks for posting.

@peer: isn't it? I have no idea why akai is not shitting their pants and giving me a replacement ASAP to really investigate what is going on. this has happened twice to me. That is why I want to learn how to fix it, because after a while it's going to happen again and not having my machine 3 months a year is not an option.

you'll see the blown capacitor in there.

I think you need to find out what cap is supposed to be there and have it replaced... an electro technician can do that no problem.

If you fix yourself you're letting Akai off the hook. They offered to fix or for free they really can't do much more than that. If it happens again you can hold Akai accountable but if you turn down their repair offer you really don't have much to complain about. A replacement unit is what's warranted but you already know Numark ain't going for that. By the time you get a pro to fix and spend extra cash it really isn't worth it. Pack it up and send it in.
If you don't and it happens again or causes a fire, Akai will say we offered to fix it, he disobeyed our instructions, so it's his problem. Akai may be banking on this. Send them a link to your video and won't be three months before they fix it. No maker wants a rep for making stuff that catches fire. A stigma like that would undermine and cripple sales across the board.

Totally agree. Call them again and tell them you are sending it in and give them hell and demand it back much sooner. I dont think they will take that long anyways (i would think not, but...). yeah dont void your warranty by fixing yourself.
