lol, well it was a sort of reference to a thread relating to a guy who had a 5000 screen that was smoldering... I'm not sure if you saw that thread.

anyways, hopefully you figure a way around the issue you're having... it sucks when you pay a pile of cash for a piece of gear and it is followed by the bad taste of the company neglecting the issues.

True....i wanted to really enjoy this 5000 but hey....but i must say again...i love the quantize on this mpc, they just got sloppy with the midi side of it....most people don't notice this because they use it mainly for sampled sounds already in the mpc instead of external gear so they never get a chance to see the issues this mpc really have

@pledge,

Thanks for your observations on the MPC5000. I can honestly say based on what you have described, that at it's current stage of development, I really don't think I will be purchasing it an MPC5000. I actually was gonna purchase it. I currently have an MPC4000 and I love it however the fact that I have to load sounds one by one because the aksys software doesn't work correctly for me, even in Virtual XP mode, sucks!!! I was looking at the MPC5000 cause of it's ability to load sounds from an external device and automatically make new multiple programs but from everything I've read all over the net, it seems that even at OS v2.0 this MPC still isn't ready. Especially if it's internal MIDI system isn't up to par. Like "pledge", I have always used my MPCs with external equipment via MIDI and faulty MIDI to the degree described is unacceptable.

On my behalf of myself and I'm sure as well as others, again thanks for your factual/nonfactual input/opinion. Especially considering that sharing any and all testing results is what http://www.mpc-forums.com is all about.

create your programs with a pc editor then (bluebox, mpc maid, etc.)!

That's good advice. There are tons of VST synths that are on par with the Fusion engine in the 5000. Lose a few Q-links, 64MB of RAM, and gain a machine with an OS that's been updated hundreds of times as opposed to once.

Still complainiung when you've already been told how to get Aksys working isn't cool.

There's nothing wrong with your 4000.

There's nothing wrong with Aksys.

The problem is you.

USE A COMPATIBLE OS FOR TROUBLE-FREE OPERATION OF AKSYS.

It really is that simple.

You paid for hardware, don't rely on non-essential software to make it work.

Back on topic, I've heard all the noises about the 5000, but I'd still approach it with an open mind if I had the opportunity to one out. I'd be more interested in the synth engine and it's capabilities.

Not trying to pile on here, but Aksys works fine in Virtual XP mode for me, on a Bootcamp partition. I actually had more issues running it on 32 bit Windows 7 where the driver wasn't even running in a virtual environment. The 4000 is so dope it's worth getting a $100 XP box off craigslist if that's what it takes.

according to some 5000 owners that was a fake...they will say and believe anything to defend this faulty machine its funny it's like handing somebody shit on a stick and telling it's ice cream and they eat it

Blue box programs do not work on the 4k, at least for me they don't....

I don't really think him not having aksys is that big of a deal, I dont use it I just use a flash drive if need be, but I sample, chop and assign in the box....it is kinda what it was designed to do.
