I agree. That's a lot of money that could have been used elsewhere.

Hey thanks a lot, I appreciate the feedback. I know you are right about all of the software products I purchased. I need to stick with one or maybe two and get to know them well. I am way over my head with software and trying to compensate a bit with hardware. I am a newbie but have actually made a couple of decent recordings using all the software but really struggling.

I should point out that this is my passion and hobby. I spend my extra money on music gear. Don't drink, don't smoke, just addicted to music making.

I think everyone is right, it's time to weed out some software. At this point for my purposes I think using Logic Pro with the Apogee interface and Ableton Live will be first my choices of software to stick with. I guess keeping Reason is a good thing. I think selling my Digi 002 surface controller and Pro Tools LE 7.4 system is the way to go. Then if I sell my new Akai MPD 32 usb/midi control unit I will free up some worries and create some space.

Then figure out if I want the MPC 5000! I am getting anxious but will try the Logic sampling as was suggested here before I purchase the unit.

Thanks everyone, I hope to stay active in this forum. It sounds like some real pros here!

Check out the online tutorials the ableton offers, it explains many basic things. I use Live 7 as my main production tool. Then I export everything to protools for the mixdown or to my mpc for live gigs.
This is an mpc forum, but if there's anything I can help with in live just let me know

Ableton Live also comes with some tutorials in the help section of the program
just get into the help menu, chuse lesson table of contents and start there.

there are some tutorials you can buy in dvd format. One in particular which I found useful is by a company called ask
the ask videos on live 6
it helped me out really well to understand the program
cheers

Hey again, thanks a lot. Even though this is an MPC forum many of you have been so helpful from the computer side of things. I really do appreciate it. I will check out a couple of things on my Ableton and Logic Pro side of the computer before I make the decision to go for the MPC 5000.

Anyone looking for a Pro Tools LE 002 Surface Control rig, let me know. I think I am going to stick with the Logic and Ableton. Time to start focusing. Yea I know, I should have done that before but I have learned a few lessons.
