Hahaha! Yeah right! You know industry dudes don't be tryna hear no demos (or even have the time). I was workin at sears a few years ago selling electronics and I sold an HDTV to Memphis Bleek and didn't even bother giving him a beat cd. I've seen too many times where they'll just throw the cd in the trash after you turn your back! Anyway, sorry for the OT!

Bleek needs all the help he can get as far as music and should never throw away a beat CD :P . Nobody is checking for him these days. But as long as Jay's alive he's a millionaire....and he's in his will somewhere. Just Blaze, do you have the same arrangement?

As far as the actual topic...the MPC 5000...JB appears to be not interested in checking out the latest OS update. With that said....It would be cool to hear his input in the feature request threads....or the "What do you like about the 5K" type threads...

^^^^ That's pretty much how it works.

Being generous and taking demo can turn into lawsuit claiming they stole somebody's material. It's what we would do if we were in that situation. At least that's what we would do after our attorneys schooled us on the consequences.

i dont mind open conversation, as long as it doesnt turn into the please listen to my demo fest. i mean how many different ways can we discuss the fact that i dont like the 5000 anyway? lol

Well in that case I would like to get a confirmation that you have gone all software? (sorry if its on one of the earlier pages), If thats not true, how many joints you make with the 4000 in a lets say a year?

Next question is for everyone:

In this question, Ive never seemed to find a professional answer: I Actually owned the 2500 while ago, but the reason I sold it was cause no matter how matchematical I tried to be, It seemed like it always left some gaps between my chops/samples (some say its between my head, but clearly software sampling/sequencer engines seemed much better at the time in the terms of triggering samples).

JJ OS has clearly made some of the Akai/Numark OS things better, but is there some connection between the PPQ resolution and these gaps/accuracy?

I know when I say this there is hundreds of people going mad and saying that you shouldnt do things mathematically, but accuracy Is IMO a big part of succesful result, you did it mathematically or not.

I kind of regret now, cause Ive learned different types of new production techniques which will go great If
I set the tempo manually, but

If I purchase another MP if the future,

I was wondering is the 4000 way to go If there really is some difference between its and 25K:s sequencing engines, or should I just back up my words about the 25k, and purchase it again (it was a great sampler besides the problems I had at the time)

Peace

The 4k is very computer/daw friendly, if you catch my drift. It's also not as complicated as most say it is. Without question, it's has a better sequence reso than the 25k.

Did you master time stretching? This is critical when sampling music that was played live since the tempo is never really 100% the same throughout the song. So even if you made a clean chop, you may have to timestretch to get it to fit in the actual bar and connect nicely with the next sound. Otherwise, you will have nasty gaps, early cut-offs of a sample and just overall unsmooth chop playback.

Actually at the time I was using equal chops  (it has been almost 2 years)

But today I know that the more you chop , the more the tempo can varie, this is something that Pete Rock has teachen to us (everyone remembers that 2kxl video), its great method cause it fits with most Software and Hardware :)

I was using FL Studio before MP and still am, Its a great software, it does all that I need, but now I feel like I need an MP cause I love to work with hands, and I gotta admit, its more Iconic and someting that is meant only for your beats.

Maybe I expected too much at the time from an MP.

By keep giving specifics about all the things you like and dislike. There are plenty of threads you can give your input. SCD wrote that Akai is watching. So having someone as famous as yourself giving more input can only help....right? If you don't..that yes, what is the point on anyone repeating simply that they don't like the machine?

So what is it? Do you still use the mpc 4000 on your production or are you producing with software only? I personally like software for space saving. Although, for some reason, I feel more creative with modules and workstations.

Let's hope so. My 5k keeps locking up, and to get free memory back after making a beat, you have to restart the machine everytime because purge and delete doesn't work. It may say you have 54MB free but try an preview a 32MB sample and "Not Enough Memory"...yeah lets hope the OS updates fix all this mess.

I sold my 3000 because of the weak chopping abilities - Just sold my 2kxl and now tha my company ( verizon ) is not going on strike, bout to cop a mpc 4000 locally. still keeping my asr10 and emax for the sound and I think that will be my final setup.

all jokes aside, I really think it sucks that heads drop 3k on a new item and then the jawn will not properly, and MUST wait for updates etc.

I also think what NUAKAI did to the initial 1000 owners was dead wrong to send out a machine with flaky pads/sensor board that breaks and you got dudes in here improvising with glues and adhesives and trying all kind of funny shyt to fix to then offer a "PAD UPGRADE" more like a repair and then to charge these poor customers for that "UPGRADE" was like the last straw for me. the 4k for me and I promise yo nothing NOTHING from NUAKAI for me. NADA!!!

yep - that was what i was referring to earlier in this thread. imagine if jb had used his 1k enought to have the pads fall apart - one blog rant might have changed the whole way that episode went down...

This is another reason why I am hesitant to post my hottest beats online. I mainly just post my OK stuff, and maybe a few of my better beats from time to time.
