I assume you guys understand that this tread is about the SERVICE manual, i.e., not the USER manual.

I'm always suspicious of certain sites that claim they host whatever it is you're looking for and don't have it. But the real problem is, you first must register and fork over some goofy fee before you find out whatever it was you wanted, ain't what it claimed to be in the first place.

It seems that as long as a product is still selling, under warranty, and hasn't been around that long, it's going to be hard (but not impossible) to get your hands on a service manual.

Maybe the service manuals are on the distributor level and the only way of obtaining one is to be a dealer or service center or something.

I wouldn't even mind paying a little $ for it. But giving my credit card number directly (no paypal option) to some shady download site is less than enticing. I emailed a company on ebay that sells service manuals for other MPC models so we'll see if they get back to me.

I asked around. One shop got back to me so far and indeed... Only for service centers. There isn't a specific Akai Pro service center here in Holland, just for home entertainment stuff and such. I've send them a request anyways.

Yeah, I kinda figured that. I used to be in the wireless service repair business and I worked for the carrier (nextel) and not a dealer. We had access to a lot of tech stuff even the dealers couldn't get their hands on. We basically had a direct pipeline with the motorola in Illinois and Florida, so any s/w or hardware updates or recalls or whatever, we heard it first.

So that's usually the protocol that authorized service facilities follow, they don't want to jeopardize their livelyhood...know what I mean?

And I bet you as soon as there's no more warranty to be given on any of the current selling models, that's when you'll be able to get your hands on one...unless otherwise of course.
