MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

... because the MPC 5000 is a sampler, so you can do anything a sampler can. You could for example sample a great track and turn it into noise, silence, distortion...even downsample it. And it's got a sequencer, so you can arrange your samples like notes...there's nothing special about it, except the hard disk (more memory), larger memory (more memory), many trigger pads (better access to more memory) and many more things you can't hear. So it's not the question if it sounds good, but if you can use it without hurting yourself (or others). I thought about this topic for at least 0.6 seconds - rather long time for a machine...

So why did you waist two minutes typing about it?[

Only thing I must do is dying - someday. I assume it was Red Herring switching the buttons. Nevertheless, funny thread.

lmao @ the MP-5

but,

like the name of this thread states,

i dont get it.

???

PS

It was my thread that asked for some examples of what cats are doing with their MPC5000s. I just felt a thread that showcases that you can make some ill stuff with it, might ease the whole MPC5k attacks/defenses vibe going on around here.

Well, it's not just limited to that. I've got mine set up to be a sampler, sequencer, hard disk recording platform and CD burner. I run all my mics and keys and other instruments through a mixing board, run my effects sends out to an Antares AVP-1, back into the mixer and out to the MPC for hard disk recording. I also have a turntable connected to the MPC, routed through my mixer, and back into my MPC so I can pull samples easily. Don't just look at the MPC like a drum machine. It's way more than that. Did I mention it's got an integrated and fully programmable synthesizer with arpeggiator? Yeah, it does.

Yes, you can use it without hurting yourself if you actually read the manual and plan on using it for more than just a really cool looking paper weight. My recommendation is you start off with something simpler if you're this unfamiliar with the machine...perhaps a slide whistle is more in your arena.

Maybe you have a look at this post http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?p=909043#p909043. I'd say this goes beyond beat making. Maybe I'm not that blessed with mics, turntables and routing cables as you are, but I never said, that I can't use that tool for making music. First of all I misplaced this topic and it should be under "What can your MPC 5000 do". Secondly I tried to express, that the MPC is (at least) a sampler, so you could (if you don't see any other options) sample a sound and re-use it. So the MPC is capable of doing every (hearable) sound like Britney Spears can sing (move lips to playback) in every octave, speed and language.

The most interesting part of your post was:
I also have a turntable connected to the MPC, routed through my mixer, and back into my MPC so I can pull samples easily.
. My MPC has only one pair of input jacks, I can't plug a stereo turntable with it's full channel bandwith into my MPC, route it to some mixer and feed it back into the MPC - lucky man.

Don't just write some sort of bashing posts, you don't need to recommend to read the manual, as I already did (for example have a look at the Bug Parade, where I talked about the missing parameters of some EFX). But to get you really going: That synth idea was really funny, I couldn't resist to move parts of my face upwards as if I'd be trying to smile.

So where to go from here: show off some of your MPC skillz and go beyond beat making. I'll honestly call myself unworthy to post again here.

I think that meant.

tt -> mixer -> mpc line in.
