MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

Hey,

I have (temporarily) MPC 5000. But I have small problem I don't have 50 drum programs only Stone Basics and something like Fairlight. On Rom I have TR909 drums,
HDD is absolutely empty ;) I try start mpc with erase, but it's restore only settings, no library. I try make own programs, but MPC don't have many drums samples now.
I look on manual and on HDD should be Akai Drums Folder and Akai Instruments. HDD is empty. Is it possible to backup factory files?

Look for the The Loopmasters folder on the 5Ks hard drive. That is where the 5Ks sound library is stored. Users should back up this folder via USB, CF card, or on CD-R.

If the HD is empty...then perhaps someone deleted the folder or formatted the hard drive.

Yeah, if you can't navigate to that Loopmasters folder on your HDD, then you may be fresh outta luck brutha!

Akai should really have provided a backup dvd of those factory sounds in the box, just in case - The first thing I did when I got my 5K, was copy everything from the 5K's HDD to my PC HDD for backup purposes.

I wanted to see how fast it would transfer the data - finished very quickly to - It's nice having high speed USB file transfer :)

Thanks,

But I have one problem now. I try connect my Fantom G with MPC. I now Askia Shaheed have G too, so I asking.

I do everything:

- connect MPC & Fantom (MPC OUT A and Fantom MIDI IN, MPC IN 1 and Fantom OUT),
- on Fantom I change the Synch Mode to Slave MTC and MMC Mode to Slave (change MIDI settings),
- on MPC MODE+PAD8(MIDI&SYNC) I select MASTER settings SYNC MODE, MMC ON,
- I go to MAIN and change Program to OFF, TYPE MIDI,
MIDI 1A,
- And I try play anything on Fantom. I play but MPC sounds not Fantom Internal (Strings or Piano, you understand me?) Fantom is now only controller for Akai. In addition MPC metronome not working. (Number of frames are same like in Fantom, i try 25 and 30 later). I try to OFF Local Switch on Fantom. In MPC manual one chapter have title "Connecting MPC 5000 with Keyboard BUILT-IN-SOUNDS" or something like this, i try this way, but...

I'm tired and Pissed Off, the matter is trivial, but manual solution doesn't work or What's I do wrong? Maybe I do mistake in settings? If anyone connect Fantom G with 5000 and can correctly sequencing G internal sounds on 5000. Please, help ;)

Put the Fantom G in studio mode and turn local off.

On the MPC, set Program: No. 01, MIDI: 1A. Hitting the pads or the Fantom's keys should play the Fantom's patch assigned to MIDI channel 1.

I do what you say, but it's still don't work. I think i do any mistake in settings.

Now on Fantom I have:

Sync/Tempo

Sync Mode SLAVE-MIDI
Sync Output OFF
Clock Source MIDI
MTC Sync Output OFF
MTC Frame Rate 30
Next Settings:
...0
...0
...0
...0
...5

Sound

Local Switch OFF
Patch Remain ON
Control Remain OFF

MIDI

Device ID 17
Studio Set Control Channel OFF
Transmit Program Change ON
Transmit Bank Select ON
Transmit Active Sensing ON
Transmit Edit Data ON
Soft Through OFF
Next Settings:
...OFF
...OFF
...OFF
...ON
...ON
...ON
...ON

On MPC I have:

Program: NO.1
Type: MIDI
Midi: 1A

MIDI/SYNC
MIDI
Active track Receive Channel ALL
Soft Thru OMNI A
Sequence Change by Program ON
Pad to Internal Sounds ON
SYNC
Sync In : OFF
Sync Out: Midi Clock
Send MMC: ON

--------------------------------------------------------------------
When I try change patch on Fantom i automatically change sequence on mpc, gennerally now I controll MPC drums/sounds from Fantom keys and Metronome correctly works. It's one +. But I wanna sequencing Fantom Internal Sounds on MPC.
I watched PlaynSkillz video, and Fantom and 5000 co-op correctly so I must do mistake in settings. When I play on Fantom the light on select patch lights up, but i can't hear
anything. ???

Pg 170 of the MPC manual has all the info you need to use the MPC as the sequencer and the Fantom G as the MIDI keyboard/sound module. It doesn't mention anything about using MIDI Sync.

For now, stop using the MIDI Sync functions. Turn sync off on both the MPC and the Fantom.

On the MPC:
Soft Thru to As Track.
Sequence Change by Program OFF
