MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

I am heartened by my choice of the MPC5000 as my main audio/midi workstation. In this year's NAMM show there are at least three major software companies that are revealing products which owe most ( if not all ) of their inspiration to the MPC . Maschine by Native Instruments, Groove Agent One by Steinberg and Akai / Ableton APC40 are paying homage to our instrument of choice by emulation- in software or a software/ hardware combination. The great thing ( of course ) is that with the MPC you don't need it to be attached to a computer .
It is also good news that Akai are actually listening and implementing features in the new OS which have been suggested by their users.
Further evidence of this " Glasnost " effect would be ( as has been previously suggested ) to throw open the latter stages of the new OS2.0 beta to us.
This would be a very positive move and promote inclusiveness whilst also saving time .
Let user and company unite - win/win situation -

YES WE CAN :)

^^^ Not to mention Cakewalk Sonar 8's new Beatscape...

...I'm sure they're all good, they're just not...

...an MPC !!!

I'd pick the 5K every time (especially with the NEW OS 2.0 just about to drop!) 8)

Just hopped over to the Openlabs site for a quick look...

From the musicindustrynewswire site...

The Pads have a "first ever, extra assignable 17th pad for double-kick play or better high-hat control" ? How does that work?...lol

17 Pads... ...thats 1 more than the MPC...gulp

Out of curiosity - I wouldn't mind a play with the new NeKo XXL - but they're not widely available in the UK.

NI's Maschine has a dedicated 'swing' knob. That function alone means I'm going to have to give it a serious look. The APC-40 also looks the absolute nuts for Ableton users.

MPD, MPK and (now) APC rooms around here wouldn't be such a bad idea, actually.
