MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

I am having a difficult time getting Program Change commands sent from my Akai MPK49 MIDI controller to my MPC5000 to work as desired. I am still a bit of a MIDI newb, so am looking for some basic advice. Apologies in advance if this is seen more as a MPK49 question...

I have created multiple Synth Programs on the MPC and have assigned each of them to their own Track within a Sequence -- each Synth Program / Track also has it's own unique MIDI channel assignment (1A, 2A, 3A, etc.).

I am using the MPK49 as the Master. Clock on the MPC5000 is set to Slave and the Active Track Receive Channel is set to Multi.

How does the MPC5000 receive/parse Program Change MIDI commands?

I would like to edit pads/buttons on the MPK49 to switch between the various Program/Tracks/MIDI channels I've set up on the MPC, but without understanding how the MPC receives such commands leaves me a bit blind.

For example, if I send a Program Change command for the following:

MIDI Channel 2A > Program 001 > Bank M > Bank L

What does the MPC use from that command (does it support the sub-bank parameters) -- and how can I achieve the simple bank pad switch I am looking to achieve?

Also to note: I do NOT have a USB cord plugged into my MPK49 (which negates the MIDI out signals)

Much thanks in advance.

K
