How are they going to do that? Surely not by USB?

By the way, I can't find anything about it on their website/forum

nah... not by USB, just software editor, like for the MV-8000

Nah, it was stated a few weeks ago when a rep from the company came to the board and advised us of the situation...

Ah, I see.

please let akai concentrate on the OS instead

Bingo! This is what we expressed before when this came up. Get the OS solid and feature packed before even thinking about something like this.

For those that are wishfully waiting for a solution from Chicken Systems, yall must be new to this. Don't get your hopes up.

Plus, like mentioned above, an editor would not be quite like aksys since the real time access to ram has to be enabled from the MPC OS. This may not be possible if not put into the original design.

Right, AkSys was a clever thing Akai did with the 5000/6000/z4/z8/4000 but with all respect to the programmer(s): not done that well (at least not for Mac)... Though I have to say I use it all the time on the S5000 and Z8.
