MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

I'm considering purchasing the MPC5000 since the price has come down. However, I'm very concerned about the 20 song limitation. This seems like a very small amount of songs available for such a large & capable machine. Since you can only record audio tracks in song mode, I will surely need access to more than 20 songs.

I saw in the manual that you can bounce songs to sequences, but I assume that will not work if you have recorded audio tracks as part of those songs.

Streaming audio tracks are a key component to my needs, which is why I'm considering the MPC5000 over the other MPC's.

thanks in advance for you help/suggestions

I don't see why you should actually want to have more then 20 songs loaded at the same time ?
you can put the harddrive full of songs (say hundreds) , but only 20 of them can be in the memory at the same moment.
I don't see how that could be a limitation.
Indeed the Harddisktracks can only be used in a song (poor implementation IMO).

I think it would be interesting to know how exactly you work/want to work because from all angles I look at it, I don't see any problem with having 'only' 20 songs in memory available at the same moment.
I'm quite sure there is some workaround possible.

The workaround would simply be to re-sample the audio parts via input thru/record inputs. then place them onto a track.

otherwise, get a good audio interface with your DAW of choice or get a multi-track recorder.
