Please tell me someone else is having this problem.

I use a midi keyboard controller to operate the built in synth on my mpc5000.

I have noticed that sometimes a note will stick:
Like Im working on a sequence,
and scroll through to a new sound, and then
the note just doesn't stop.
Its like it thinks that I am holding down a note,
when Im not.
I cant figure out how to stop it!?
I unplug the MIDI keyboard - still going
I try to delete the synth program, and it wont let me
The only thing I can do is save and turn off the unit and re-boot

Which I obviously cannot do in a live setting.

My only option at this point is to be very careful and not scroll through sequences and programs while any keys or pads or pressed.
But you guys obviously understand, that when you are working, you dont have to deal with it.

ANY INPUT WOULD BE AWESOME!
THANK YOU !

Hitting the stop button three times sends a note off midi signal to anything connected to your midi outs..

Here's something from a book I have called Sound Re-inforcement.

for each note that is to sound, a series of midi commands must be sent. the first is a note on command which is followed by a note off command. If the note off command is not received, the synthesizer will continue to play.

here are some ways note off can be interrupted:

1. midi cable becomes disconnected before note off was received.

2. you may have changed midi channels on the master while holding down a note.

3. if a sequence playback is involved, an editing operation on the sequencer may have deleted or overwritten the note off, or playback may have been stopped in midstream before the note off was sent.

If hitting the stop button three times doesnt work, just save your work, and cut the system off for a few seconds and turn it back off.

Yes, We have noticed that... the only way it seems to stop is if you scroll back to the channel you have the glitch on and hit the notes thats causing the glitch...

The Alesis Fusion has the same problem. I thought they would have fixed that by now.

Yeah, it definitely has some midi bugs that need to be worked out.
