still could use a few improvements on the current OS, especially with the MIDI and the machine becoming sluggish once you start making a track as far as menu changes

this is obviously, without a doubt the best mpc to date, considering all the features invovled.

is it possible for me to imagine something better? yes, ...but do i feel confident that i definitely have the best MPC ever made, as of yet? yes i do.

I would not go as far to say that it is the best ever made!

I would say that it is the best overall without question to date!

International translation: That means currently

There are some things I would like to see added in a future OS. But to be fair, there isn't a machine on the market that can do all the things I want. The MPC 5000 is the best MPC to date..in terms of what it can do and ease of use.

Of course there are people that want to talk about the build quality of the latest MPCs when compared to the legacy models. Most people couldn't afford an MPC 60 or 3000 back in the early 90s. If the current MPCs hardware was built to the same specs, most people wouldn't be able to afford them today. After a year of owning the MPC 5000, I haven't had a single problem with it.

^^^I have to agree I bought mine way back in june 08,when it was just a paper wait os 1.00.But new the updates would be comming soon.

I have to say the work flow is second to none especially when you are talking about flagship machines.

And the 4 midi out thats what got me from the beging being able to use all my modules and keyboards as well as DAW plug instruments at my finger tip,

if you guys who own this machine have not implemented these capabillity of the midi outs into your work flow you are missing out, complete control off every element in your studio place on a track you cant beat that in my book.

Remember most keyboards and modules have permormance modes 4 outs equal 16 sets of midi 64 midi signal going out you can save you performances in each instrument not have having to record the audio in to you DAW just save you songs or beats in the mpc all the midi outs will be saved in the sequence.

Well said *co sign*

At this point I only wish there where way more synth sounds.
Its my only beef with the 5k,if your going to have a internal synth at least give us 1000 presents, come on Akai.
The 2.0 took the 5k to the next lever That`s my verdict period!
I can go as far as saying i would even be happy if no more updated where made(its really powerful enough),and akai just gives us more synths.

I disagree.

The function we need the most is auto-load of samples into a program. For example, the mpc has 4 pad banks x 16 pads = 64 sounds.

Wouldnt it be nice if you can select 64 sounds, hit auto load, and all 64 sounds are mapped out to your pads.

Would make the workflow so much easier!

OS 2.0 added the ability to auto-load a folder full of samples and automatically map the sounds to a new program. In other words, if you have 64 sounds in a folder, the 5K will create a program with sounds on all pads in all banks. If you have 128 sounds in a folder, then two programs will be created. The sounds will be assign in alphabetical order to each pad.

This was a heavily requested feature which I love. But I do wish the 5K had the ability to actually select/de-select sounds to load and or delete to/from memory.
