Help needed for Final

I have an MPC 5000 which runs into an M-Audio Firewire 410 through midi. I am having a hell of a time trying to sync the MPC up with Ableton. I have gone through all the procedures under Ableton's preferences as well as on the MPC. I am trying to use the MPC as Master. It works, as when I press play on the MPC, Ableton starts playing. However there is no sound showing up in Ableton. I have searched and searched as well as look through the manual numerous times. Is there any way to record a song or sequence into the computer other than through a DAW? Shouldn't I be able to mix down the file into a .wav in the MPC? I only have 64mb ram, if that helps. Any help would be appreciated. The song is my final for a class I have tomorrow. Also, I have tried with Audacity, no luck.

I don't own an mpc5000 but I think you can bounce your songs onto the audio tracks of the mpc. I believe it will be saved as a wave file and then you can send the file to your pc for other uses. It's either that way or you have to save your song as one long sample and then send it as a wave file to your pc. I could be wrong either way but I think I read the info hear in this forum.

Hes not trying to mixdown through the MPC.. hes tryin to track out on ableton.

can u explain more how your cables are connected from your mpc to the soundcard and soundcard to your computer so i and the others can get a better view of how your set up is?

just to be sure... midi handles turning notes on/off... and the audio outs transmit the actual sound. If ableton is not seeing the audio you either need to turn monitoring on, or you have the wrong audio outs from the mpc going into your audio interface.

I have 1/4 inch cables going from the stereo outs into the line in jacks on my firewire 410.

have you ever recorded anything to your computer with that setup before?

checked abletons audio configuration?
is life playing clips correctly?
did you turn on any recordingtracks....?
and did you assign inputs to these...?

the 5k is not your prob.....
