Hi there,

I have spent a terrible weekend with my 5k. It has a really strange problem with some pads.

PROBLEM:

I load a program or a sliced sample and hit the pads, some pads won't play the sound (5, 8, 9, 13, 14). Even the mode functions with these pads, are giving me a hard time to activate. Sometimes it jumps to another menu which does not have to do with the pad mode option and sometimes they just don't activate.

When I open MODE+Pad 9 (OTHER mode) and chose the option "PAD". In the panel above where it appears PAD= (Pad number), those pads i mentioned above change randomly and really fast (5, 8, 9, 13, 14). Then it freezes for some seconds.

At first, I thought it would be an OS problem. I reinstalled OS 2.0 but it hasn't helped.

What else do you suggest me to do? :? Can it be an error on the pad plaque?

Please, help me on this guys.

....oh, i'm afraid thats a mechanical problem....you need a new sensor sheet under your pads...no big deal, but definitly something you should'nt do by your own....
warranty should cover this....
any fluids gone over the pads?
sounds like it.....

....right now, i see you're in angola....well, strong humidity in the air could cause that, too......

Yep, that's a possibility. There's no Akai technical support around here. I will still wait for some more help here in the forum, but for prevention will purchase a pad sensor sheet from vstservice.com or mpcstuff.com.

Thanx reeloy

Did you try to hold down "Erase" when you turn the MPC back on to Re-Initialize the Factory Settings.... I just had this same problem with Pad 14, and it works again properly.
