Auto load problems

So i put everything in auto load and i get and error message that stops me from loading all my auto load programs which is a pain because my songs and sequences are all based on that folder

anyone know work arounds?

....do you have the ram expansion on board?

what says the display exactly when it fails loading?

are you still able to switch off autoload...

if so, try to load the needed programs one by one first and see where the trouble starts....and report...

This is the most efficient way to save and load stuff on the 5000:

Set the Autoload feature to OFF.

Save your entire memory / project in a NEW FOLDER, titled whatever you want,
lets say, JUNE 2009. Save one project per folder and name each project, Project001, which is the default name it saves to.
THIS WAY, you can keep saving to Project001 so it always overwrites or updates it.

When you turn it on it will be empty, then go to your folder, JUNE 2009 (in this case) and load Project001.
Jam out on that for however long, and when you are done working, just save it again as Project001 in the JUNE 2009 folder and it will say, "overwrite existing file?" and answer, YES.

I had some issues with the autoload feature, where it wouldn't work, but if i would try and load it manually, it would.
So I just dont use that feature, since it really only saves me about ten seconds.

The folder thing is key too, b/c when you have more than one project in a folder, it tends to mess things up.

Also, when I save something, I always SAVE ENTIRE MEMORY.
Keep it simple, you know?

here is my work around...

rename your "auto load folder" to sometime else e.g. SHOW1.
1)switch off MPC,
2) browse to folder SHOW1 ( do not browse into the folder)
3) select "do it".

apparently when you select a folder all .50S, .mid, samples and .all are loaded accordingly. No need to do it one by one.

THanks for the tips guys, i just use folders per song now and so far so good. havent had a prob yet

I feel your pain. Same thing happen to me today and I was piss, because I had a couple sequences that really tight. I had a way around it. When I save my data to autoload. I save to a autoload on the compact flash and a autoload on my internal Hard drive. That way is one fail, like it did on the compact flash. I use the hard drive autoload.

Now that everything is fine. I will resave the data to the autoload on the compact flash.

Not to bring up the mpc4k, but with the mpc4k I use to save my data to autoload on the hard drive and used the usb connecton to save the entire memory to my pc. Incase something failed.

You can't see or save the entire memory to a pc with the mpc5k like you could with mpc4k.
