I know the mpc has it's own built-in phono pre but does anyone still use a separate one with it? Just curious.

p.s.: the best way to get your sound is to experiments with what you have!!!

ive found that my sound quality is dramatically improved if i allow a shaved cigarette smoking chimp to urinate on the record before i search it, then i filter my sounds through the sinus cavities of long dead tibetan steel workers because the rich mineral deposits that once flowed in their blood created canals that give the perfect amount of reverb once outputting from the snot regions. and i only write lyrics with a golden pen made from the droppings of a silver eel who only leaves its cave to defecate gold on a skeptical but fearful public

serious tho, pre amping may not b too big of an extra step in my opinion if you have a really nice preamp, but if its a garbage preamp that cant beat the 5ks anyway- why bother? and i think the 5k sounds good- i can easily take my samps at anywhere from -12 to -4 db everytime, so to me unless i was taking wet samples(fx'd up) which i rarely do while hunting and gathering, it would b un needed. tho i can see and appreciate that when done properly with adequate gear you could probably get a real expensive sound by pre amping. dam i just talked myself into it haha
