Does anyone know if you can use the knobs on the MPC 5000 to control any of the virtual instruments in protools 8?

I am not sure bro did you already hook it up and set it to the midi settings and try it out? I know my MPK49 does it so it might I dont know. Sorry that doesnt help really, maybe check the manual or go to the DUC forums.

Yes you can. You can program the Q-Link controllers to send out CCs to stear your Pro Tools instruments (given that parameters in those instruments can listen to CCs of course).
See the MIDI tutorial (sticky in this forum) and also the manual how to do that. It's quite easy.
