Boot Version = 1.02. OS Version = 1.01. Have tried to upgrade using both 32M and 2G cards. Tried to go directly to OS2.0 and to OS 1.02. The .bin file transfers from computer to card, no problem. BUT, when holding down 2,3 and starting unit, get error message "Invalid OS file on CF card"... Have tried using both MAC and PC... Same result. Please help!
thx!!!

you need to go back to your computer, extract the folder, and then double click on the extracted folder, until you get to the root file(the last file you cant double click on anymore), drag the file to your CF Card... Now try the process again on your MPC.... Goodluck, i hope that works, i been drinking a lil bit, so maybe when i reread this tomorrow, and it doesnt make sense to me, i can rewrite it, or help you out better, but i tried what i could since no one else has responded yet... 8)

Thanks for the response. When I click on the download, it says it is downloading the 3.1MB mpc5000_os_v200.zip file from the site. So far so good. But at the end of the download it looks like MacOsX (v10.5.7) expands it automatically because I get a folder mpc5000_os_v200. I can go into the folder and there are two files
1) MPC5000_OS.bin 4.1MB MacBinary archive
2) MPC5000_Update_Instructions.pdf 72KB PDF

I can click on the PDF and read it.

Could MacOSX just be giving me the appearance of expanding it? I have tried the process on a PC and got the same results though and I did use WinZip to explicitly unzip it on the PC. So I am thinking it is an issue with the MPC5000.

What is the proper size of the MPC5000_OS.bin file?
ANother note, if I double click on the MPC5000_OS.bin file, MACOSX creates a file called MPC5000_OS.bin.cpgz which is 3.1MB and appears to be a zip format of that file. And then if you clck on that, you get a copy of the MPC5000_OS.bin - basically it just zips and unzips it, creating copies each time..

Hope this helps

Well I have a workaround - I bought a Sandisk 2Gb Card today and a USB Card Reader for my MAC. I DIDN'T format the card with the AKAI. I just plugged the card reader into my MAC with the new Sandisk Compact flash card in it and copied the file over to and everything worked fine when I put that card into the AKAI and held down the 2,3 key upon start up. So either the Kingston 2Gb Compact Flash Card was the problem or the AKAI formatting of the card was the problem, or the file transfer to the AKAI in USB mode was the problem. I don't have time to debug all the possibilities. So for now I would recommend following my path with a Sandisk Card. Good Luck!
