Effects Bus Overides Hardware Mixer Mutes.

I have set up all the outputs from the 5000 into an analogue Mixer. I choose a drum programme. I route the Kick drum to 1/2, Hi-hat to 3/4 and so on.

Having great fun bringing specific sounds in and out of the mix, however when I add an effects bus, say some delay on a clap, moving the slider on the mixer has no effect on the volume of the sound. I could turn it down using the 5000's slider, but this misses the point of having the feel of the mixer.

Should I be looking at routing an effects send on the mixer. It's a Behringer XENYX 1204

I'm guessing you are meaning the effects in the MPC and not an outboard effects.

route the effects to their own outputs and bring them up on separate channels in the mixer.

one other thing. Make sure your effects are set to 100% wet. If not, you will be mixing in dry signal. If your effects are going out the masters and have dry signal, you can pull down the the other channels and it will seem like nothing happens because you are still getting dry out the outputs of the effects..
Doing this will mean that when you want to pull out a snare and it's delay, you will need to pull down the faders for both the delay and the snare on your Behringer.

I missed the effects routing section in the FX Screen. I like the way that the send dial on the MPC automatically adjusts to match the level of the corresponding output channel in the program section of the mixer.

Do you often mix with stereo Kicks?

No, my intended purpose is to separate slices of a breakbeat in order to fine tune it. I then sync cubase to record the new loop and then import into Emulator X3. Using a digital connection I can sample the loop plus alterations back into the Akai. Longwinded I know, but it works!!!
