Mpc 5000 How to get a bpm readout of a sample/loop??

First of all i am a new member straight from germany and just wanna say greetz and all the best to all MPC users

Now to my question about the mpc 5000. Can anybody tell me how i can get a bpm readout of a sample/loop!??

Not gonna happen. However if you do MODE + TRIM then choose EDIT and scroll the EDIT field to TIMESTRETCH you'll see the tempo button at the bottom. It tells you it'll detect the tempo but i really just use the numerical value it gives you as a basis for the timestretch rather than a solid BPM. For example if it tells me 163, then i say "ok i'll just say the tempo is 163 and if i want to speed up the sample i'll start as if that were the actual tempo"


But as far as BPM for exact (or even remote) beat-matching.....I dont see it happening.

Not in this lifetime!!!

the simplest way I know of getting the tempo of a sample is to play the same and hit the tap tempo button 4 times as it plays... make a note of it and return the bpm to where it was before. Then you can work accordingly. This method works fairly well.

if for some reason or another the tempo does not fit exactly right you can fix that with pitching up or down a few cents and fne tune it that way.

^^^thats the way to do it..or go all the way old school..bring out your stopwatch and count the whole minute

BPM=beats per minute..just count old school and trust on your own biological rhythm

I use Tap tempo(while metronome is on though) also but it isnt that accurate or maybe im not that accurate so after using the tap tempo i usually regulate the bpm up or down if needed.

I got one more question please. It's about the loop thing too! How can i put a loop

that i made in the trim modus on a pad? i need that function for myself made 808 bassline.

Back in the days on my mpc 2000 i have loop an 808 kick i drop the filter down and

the 808 baseline was ready. How can i do this on the Mpc 5000? Please let me know
