MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

hey guys,

I'm very happy that akai implemented keygroups in OS2, this really widens the possibilities of this machine... anyway... I cannot find keygroups libraries to purchase.

until now I've sampled instruments and created my own keygroups programs, but I'd love to find some libraries with ready-to-use keygroup programs for instruments I cannot sample on my own, e.g. electric pianos, acoustic guitars, bells, strings, basses.

could you suggest where to find good keygroup libraries (.50k format) ?

ps: I've just purchased SOUL RnB sample pack from akai and the keygroup programs in there just sucks. :(

Hey there.

I do not have a 5k but I'm looking at it, just want to know this...
The keygroup programs - if u have sampled 2 notes per octave of a piano, the MPC would make 88 notes out of it, or 88 out of ONE sample? I mean, I have a bunch of samples I used in software samplers, in pro tools... The whole yamaha motif sounds (minus the drums), got the Triton drums and basses...
I mean, could I build my own keygoups and acess them like if the MPC was a sound module? How many Keygroup programs can you have and/or access at the same time?

Because then MPC would become a "almost" all-in-one machine: sequencer, sample our stuff, hit the pads, and still access quality sounds....

If that is not possible then the only thing I think can beat the 5k is the triton keyboard taht does audio midi has pads fxs and great sounds available, plus USB and like 4 outs....

The 5k can import s5000 and z4 sample libraries. You can find them all over the place (even for free if you know where to look). You can also use cdxtract to convert sample libraries to s5000 format or use translator to convert stuff to mpc5000 format.

if you want to import .akp( s5000/z4/mpc4000 ) into the mpc5k , you cant route the individual pads- it's the entire program going to the
fx at once- :(
and you cant re-assign the samples. If you want to mess around with the programs, you'll need to rebuild them from scratch anyway. kinda rude if you ask me.

on a happier note- I have sampled a korg monopoly synth into keygroup programs for the 5k. mostly for electro type stuff.
I have it up on ebay dirt cheap. also- I sampled the casio vltone- 33 "synth" sounds that I created, plus all the presets and rhythms. dirt cheap- msg me if yer interested, or just check these out-:)

I am also almost finished with a 6gig mpc5k disk of minikorg 700s sounds---- stay tuned!!!

that guy selling 30 gigs of sounds on ebay most likely just ported over a bunch of pirated sample cd's to the .akp
format, and decided to sell them. I know they aren't his own sounds, because the amount of work that goes into
sampling- you won't spend thousands of hours working to give it away like that-

huh???
are you interested in my samples?
if so, which ones?
I just took the ads down, because people keep buying the casio
thinking it's an actual keyboard.....
so- I am gonna re-do the ads- but if anyone is interested, just PM me,
and we can arrange it through paypal-

the minikorg should be finished in a few weeks ( most of my time
is spent job-hunting!)
