Just blaze ranted about this machine went it first came out and all the bugs had not been worked out! I really think they fixed most of the big bugs with OS 2.0 I really think people are just tryin to side with Just Blaze here because of who he is... I really dont think this is machine is that bad at all... The only thing I agree on what he said is the synth program preview thing..and he didnt even know that you can load an entire folder at once.. he thought you had to load each program one by one...And just for the record I would still love for a JJ OS!!!! He could really make this machine great! I would pay $200 for his OS!! I would love it even if AKAI released a new OS sometime SOON!!

FYI I don't even know Just Blaze and I couldn't care less what he says about the MPC5000.

Indeed his rant was when OS1.0 was out and full of bugs.
Now we have OS 2.0 and indeed since then you can load a complete folder (was not the case in 1.0 !!) so indeed what JB says about MPC5000 is outdated and , since 2.0, not appliceable anymore.

Anyway, I don't believe your statement that we just keep talking about the bugs in OS2 just to be friends with JB...sorry man but this OS does contain bugs that make it almost unuseable when putting some strain on this machine.

Also the complete disintrest from AKAI's side (10 months with a buggy OS without update ???) makes people quite unhappy.

But if it works for you, good for you ! Mine is collecting dust...enough other gear without problems

OK...so I'll move my thoughts/questions here

So I really want an MPC--cant take the software anymore--but from reading your post here, It would seem that Just Blaze was speaking on OS 1 huh? How do you all feel about the 5000? Worth the purchase?

Comments appreciated :D

I do not think that is the case. people hated on it because it still has its problems and we have experienced them first hand. that said, I still think it's an awesome machine.

well, ... many upon many upon many problems were solved with the release of 2.0.

although, i must admit, there are several more 'little things/discrepencies' that in all reality 'should' be fixed.

that said, ....

I agree. Numark's arrogance made them think they could sell anything with the MPC brand on it and it would be a success even if it wasn't thoroughly beta tested. This in addition to releasing it as $3000 phrase sampler. Akai's abundance of customer returned unit have nothing to do with Just Blaze and more with Numark's reluctance to put forth the resources to make the machine live up to it's potential.

With Numark firmly focused on controllers I don't see a bright future for the 5000 until they release it's development over to a 3rd party. Essentially that what happened with the 1000 and JJ. Financially it just works better for Numark to liquidate the remaining units and move on. That seems to be the case with the latest and craziest offer.
