patched phrase : you can alter the Tempo (in the Main screen) to whatever and your loop will follow this tempo

Time Stretch : you stretch your loop to a specific tempo...if you change the tempo then on Main screen, your loop won't fit anymore

Trial and error are some good ways to find this out in a couple of minutes ;-)

please correct me if i'm wrong, but this is what i got out of it. Time stretch would be good preproduction for getting samples and chops to a specific timing.

patch phrase is more of a last minute savior tool. Lets say i hear my song and realize it'd sound a lot better a little faster.... this is where patch phrasing comes into play?

They way I see it is....

patch phrase allows you to retain the length of the sample while changing the pitch.

time stretch changes both the pitch and the length.

Patch phrases are not a savior like Jesus. You could use it for that purpose though I suppose. But like, you can do key changes with it and it wont change the tempo. Then if you like make another sequence with a slower or faster tempo it will match that one. (forgive me if I'm wrong I barely use patch phrases and havent in a few months, but when I was using them I think thats what I got out of it)

Patch phrase on the 5000 is GARBAGE unless you're working with monophonic 1, no wait-make that 3 note samples.
