Fellow MPC users,
I really don't think we're gonna see an update to the OS anytime soon if ever-unless we give Numark an ultimatum of sorts.
What if we threaten to boycott them? I'm serious about this. We've all shelled out at least $2000.00 for this unit which is frustrating most of us with freeze-ups and lack of important features. What if we came together and started a blog of some sort? This is the largest community of MPC users on the planet as far as I know and if we all band together and present these corporate minions with an ultimatum maybe they will step up and improve on the MPC 5000. What if we collected all of the serial #'s of the units we all own and shoot Numark\Akai an email with the information or better yet, a formal letter of some kind? We could let them know about the fact that we are unhappy as consumers and will never buy their shit again unless they prove that their products are worthy of our hard earned money. Let's remind them of the Linn Drum II-which is coming. Personally, and I mean this from the bottom of my soul, if I don't see a goddamn update soon, I'm officially DONE with Akai\Numark. I'm a man of conviction and pride and I'm very stubborn if mis-treated by a company. Now, some of you-maybe all of you-may think this is futile but would it hurt to try to get something done about this ridiculous lack of support? All we need are serial numbers and a decent letter of what we want. Let's inform them that a bug fix should be cost free, and we would be willing to pay for an updated OS-to say 3.0. I wouldn't pay 100's of dollars though unless they did something significant like real time, time stretching and support for S1000/3000 sample disk formats-and implement at least some of the requested features made by users on this forum. It just pisses me off that they don't seem to be doing anything. I mean, do they even skim these forums to see our concerns? They still have OS 2.0 listed as 'new'?? I'll tell you this, I'm getting the Linn Drum II when it gets released-I don't mind waiting for something good-possibly great. I just can't believe that Akai has seemingly abandoned their 'flagship' instrument. I easily could be wrong, and in the next few days they could be revealing a new OS at NAMM, but I doubt it. All I've seen are a bunch of 'toys' for kids with iphones and laptops. Oh, and rehashes of basically the same product...The MPD26? What's next? The MPD27? Jesus...What do you guys think? Is it time to boycott these fuc*ers or what?
