CD drive for mpc5000

I just got the cdm25 for my mpc5000, installed and its not being recognized by the mpc5000.. The lights come on, drive opens and closes, and cd sounds like it spins but cds are not being read. The system says cd drive is not present. Its pretty straight forward to install only one way to put it in.. what am I missing?

Is it the actual CDM 25 from Akai?

probably wasn't.. but I talked to the guy that I got it from on ebay and he replaced it. He said the one that he sent me was for the 2500 so he sent me one that he said would work with the 5000.. so far its been working. Next thing I am looking to upgrade is the hard drive.. would like to get 500GB. Probably don't really need it yet but hey, why not max it out while I can.

That's really funny since the 2500 and 5k use the same CD Drive.

500 gb ehh??thats a step up from a floppy huh.youl be pretty busy
