I searched the forum, google, and my manual. I found some information, but still not %100 on what needs to be done.

I just wanted to start ripping from vinyl on my MPC5000. I know its on page 10 of the manual, just didnt know all the cables I will need. So I gotta get the record player and then I hook up the ground to the mpc and then is it just going RCA out of the record player then is it still RCA input to the protools on that phono in input or do I need a cable with different ends? Then I just flip the switch to phono and I dont need an amp for it correct? Thanks. Sorry I just never done this before. Dont even have a record player or vinyls I am just gonna go buy some and wanted to know what I'm gonna need to do. Thanks.

Hey mark, your mpc 5000 has a phono/ line switchable input (marked "phono input" just like 1 channel of a deejay mixer so you hook the turntable to that input put the switch to "phono" hook the groundwire then your good to go on that audio being tracked into pro tools from the 5000 outs.

it is kinda like they put 1 dj mixer channel in the 5000 so you can direct hook a turntable phono level source or a cd player line level source both directely depending on what you have the selector switch set to on the rca input... phono or line

Cool man thanks. I dont have the record player yet cause I gotta get it shipped down from Oregon so I dont really know what the back of it looks like or I probably wouldnt have to ask too many questions but is this the type of cable I need? Just 2 RCA's on each side? Thanks bro. Image

Depending on what turntable you bought you might not need any additional cable at all. Some of them come with fixed cables with RCA connectors which you can plug directly in your MPC5K. If yours has RCA Jacks the cable on the picture will be perfect. Just plug it in and turn the Input Select on the MPC to "Phono".

Cheers,
Michael
