Hey friends whut up.I'm hungry for a bigger MPC than my 2000xl - more memory, more disc space ...You know how it is .. So I just need to know what's the current situation with the MPC5000 - just some summary answer.I see many posts here for the bugs. Are there any really big problems with this after the last update.I mean can i really be sure that i can use it with pleasure and creativity. My other option is the MPC4000 which i know is a great MPC too, very hard to find though ... What is your advice about my dilemma.

Well it definitely works pretty well and it's an awesome machine. That said every so often you will hit a roadblock specially if you are really pushing it to the limits. All in all, for it's current price (1500 or so) I would definitely get it, but I got it at 2,500 which was just a bit too much at the time....

Thanks for the advices friends ! As always, when it comes to MPC5000 the opinions are absolutely contrary :D . It seems that this MPC is a mystery. I just found a MPC5000 for $1100,so i don't wanna miss it,but damn ... there are too many negative statements for this machine. I still hesitate.

If it were cheap I'd do it. The screen real estate, step sequencer, and controls make it worth while if you are into the mpc work flow. I tried it out in a store once and liked what I saw. Moving from the 2000xl into this would be a big setup up, even with bugs. Remember working with Akai machines depends on the degree of buggyness you can manage. The OS problems are unfortunate but if the price were low enough I could be persuaded.

1. See if a new MPC is released ( I doubt it)

2. See if numark decides to release a new OS for the 5k. ( I doubt it)

Fixed

Thank you friends ! I'm sure that moving from my 2000xl to 5000 will be a huge step up. Maybe i'll have to wait till the new OS. Guys, since the MPC5000 has it's own audio interface i was wondering how it will interact with my DAW when i plug the MPC in my M-Audio interface. In other words is it possible to use this MPC plugged in my audio card in order to use it in my DAW. ???

That is what Akai should have done with the 5000 (in addition to giving it the same 24 bit 96khz resolution as the 4000). As it stands right now your MPC 5000's USB turns it into a 1500.00+ card reader. So no interface.

I'd give a feature suggestion to Akai now but I know that will likely fall on deaf ears.

Oh thank you for this explanation ! I thought it has a built in audio interface ...like the MV8000-8800. Yea it would be cool if they had an audio interface.BUT it is already enough expensive as it is so with this option i would buy me a Maserati.

Hey friends, mates and experts :) i have another question.I already purchased the MPC5000 from ebay and I'm waiting for it so i'm excited right now ,i know there's another world expecting me very soon . I just wanna know about the setting on the MPC which makes the pads to cut each other. Is this easy to set on the MPC5000,because i experienced the hell trying to set this on my 2000xl.I read manuals, forums, messed with the "mute groups", mono ,note off,and all kind of crazy combinations but I fail ...I will be thankful if you inform me about that :) .

Probably because the XL didn't have Mute Groups.
