PLEASE HELP!!!

Never had this issue before, but have seen it happen to other users of older versions of the MPC when loading beats into Pro Tools. I am finding that the beat loaded into pro tools le sounds completely "off" from the way it was created in the MPC 5000. I have never had this problem when loading beats off of it before, nor have I had this problem when loading beats off of my Motiff ES8. All of the sudden...it will sometimes alter the beat slightly enough that when the tracks all play together in pro tools, it sounds way off rhythmically.

Also, when I look at the BPM on the MPC display, it rounds off the BPM that the master (Pro Tools) is using. For example, when I want to load a beat from my MPC that is 104.4 BPM...I create a new session in pro tools using that tempo. When I enable midi control of the MPC, the MPC rounds off that BPM to read "EXT 104". Then when it is synced and loading in tracks, the BPM on the MPC fluctuates between 104 and 105 while loading in??? What the hell is the problem here? I've tried suggestions on others' forums about using MIDI time code, enabling MMC, frame rates, etc....I can't work it out. Just want this to sync accurately as it always has in the past...never had this issue with the MPC 2000 either.

I am using:

MPC 5000 (as slave) using MIDI Beat Clock

Pro Tools LE 7.3

Mbox 2

I have no issue getting the MPC to be controlled by Pro Tools, and I have had no problem in the past...what am I doing differently? This has put my production to a complete standstill as I cannot load several of the beats I need to work on from my MPC to pro tools.

Nope. The sounds are off. I load the tracks into Pro Tools individually. The tracks look and sound as if they are loading into Pro Tools correctly...but upon listening to the playback in pro tools, it is apparent that the syncopation of the rhythm has been corrupted in some way. Like somebody trying to copy your track but not getting the feel quite right. Multiply this problem over several tracks playing together and you don't have a listenable song anymore.

Also, you may be correct that the BPM EXT display doesn't allow for it to display the entire BPM of 104.4 (only BPM EXT 104)....but then why would you see the BPM shift back and forth from 104 to 105 during sync???

Any help on this would be much appreciated!

Are you sure you just don't have your midi/audio delay settings set properly? I know in Ableton Live to get it to be happy you need to get some of the delay settings for all devices setup properly otherwise latency rears it's ugly head.

Also, I believe that the 5k along with other MPCs is not sample accurate which (may) account for the syncopation sound, but without an audio demo (and probably even with) might be hard to determine.

I've never had to configure delay settings for syncing an MPC to Pro Tools. Enable midi beat clock on Pro Tools, assign correct tempo, connect midi cables correctly, enable mpc to be slave using midi beat clock....bingo. That's all I have EVER needed to do to get thing to perform correctly...something is funky because each individual track has issues into itself...not just against the timing of others. They each are hitting notes in slightly altered locations...
