hi
i just bought new mpc5000 couple of days ago and i was trying to copy a samples folder from my mac into the mpc5000 and the size was about 3.4 gb and it took me about an hour to complete,is that something i should be concern ? since it says on the screen that the mpc 5000 is a high speed connection so is this something normal ? any way to overcome this issue ?

Actually an hour to load 3.4GBs is pretty good for a samplers USB2.0 port.
Remember it's not a computer so you won't get the loading speeds like a computer.

I too think the transfer from and to the MPC is waaay too slow for a USB 2.0 connection.. win 7 here and my computer's USB ports are 2.0 and at least 30 times faster with every other drive.
honestly it's actually in the region of a USB 1.0 connection with ~ 1 MB per second throughput.

Alot of it has to do with the speed of the MPC 5000 internal HD and I am pretty sure it is running 5400 RPM rather than 7200 but don't quote me on that, Akai won;t answer that question when posed to tech support. I changed mine out to a 1 TB 7200 RPM SATA and it runs faster now, both on USB loading and loading into MPC RAM
