im trying to set up a side chain in cubase triggerd by a kick but it only works if the side chain channel is not muted or volume is up but i can hear the kick in cubase over my kick on the mpc this is no good is there a way round this?

hi m8 and thanks i only want to hear my kick coming from the mpc but i have set up side chain compression triggerd by a kick in my cubase sequencer now when i mute or turn the volume down on the side chain channel the compression doesnt work i hope this makes sense?

just a tip to get more answers :
it would really help us a lot if you would just type in sentences ending with a '.'
this will make your text easier to read ..;chances are most people do not even bother to read a text without punctuation as we do not even see where one sentence begins and the other ends.
Also explain in more then one sentence.


anyway, if you route a kick to your compressor pre-fader, you should be able to mute it.
this is basic functionality in all DAWS, I don't use cubase (anymore) but ableton but the technique is the same in all DAW's
