I've created a new folder to save the entire memory because I did not see the recorded audio tracks to be selectable in the RAM, but the HD recordings are not in that folder! Anyway they get loaded when I load the song again - how's that when they are not in the folder? Where are they saved on the HD? In the songfile? When I change the song, audiotracks stay the same? Or are they seperated from single Songs? If not, I wonder if they are going to be overwritten when I record new audiotracks in a new song and they have the same default name? This whole situation confuses me a bit.

I indeed do see the possiblity of bouncing them or extracting them from the edit screen.

And I wanted to know if there's a way to play a one shot sample (not hd track) longer than the setted loop in the sequence. But I don't think so, because the loop has to be set for the whole sequence, not in single tracks (that would be cooler).

lets try it this way: where and as what filetype are the audiotracks stored by default - and why can't I see them in my folder when I save everything? where is the folder on the HD for audiotracks? how are they connected to my song?

Well, I'm into a bigger production project with the MPC as our main recording tool right now but I'm stuck at the point when it comes to organise the audio tracks. You may understand I will not proceed until it's clear how the audiotracks are labelled and saved, because I don't want to mess up the recordings of our musicians.

Nobody addressed this issue in the forums until now?

ok dude check it out the mpc-5000 does have a bit of a learning curve when it comes to folders and such on the purple/blue screen my easiest way to explain it to you would be to hook it up to a PC first find all your sounds and folders on each drive (cf card and harddrive) find one spot where you want to keep everything using the computer cut, paste, copy and name all your folders and sounds on one drive (i use the harddrive and back up to cf card myself) once you get done with that go into your designated drive where you put everything using the MPC purple/blue screen and everything should show up as neat and as tidy as you did it with a computer screen and mouse.

i know this won't help much, just my 2 cents, don't use the mpc as the recording tool. the 5k is great, but the recording section is not mature and there's many cheap hardware software options.. i'm having a lot of trouble understanding the recording section, eg how to dump the 8 outs to 8 tracks etc..?? and the editing is slow and limited

Thanks for your help. I know... but we have not much to edit. Most is live, beats are from the mpc. We wanted to avoid the computer in our studio, so we have only instruments. When its not right, we just rerecord the part. Basically it is fun to record loops and audiotracks into the mpc. As this part is necessary, its also necessary to understand this section better.

i tried to replicate your problem and recorded an audio track.. the files are first stored in a hidden folder called HDRECORD/Songname as .flt files. Once you do 'save songs & seqs' it copies the files to a subfolder of your current saving folder which has the name of the song. this folder is not hidden and you can see the files on the mpc

good input!

yeah I knew that I can export/bounce the tracks, but we're haven't been that far to do so.

will check the thing with the subfolder. this means, audiotracks are linked directly to the songs.

manual kept somehow quiet about this. thanks, man!
