MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

I had both an MPC 2000 and 2000XL previously. I purchased a 5000 but I am having a problem. I hope someone can help me, please. I can't unplug the 1/4" cable from the Record In left input (I haven't connected a cable to the right input yet to see if it's just a problem with the left input though I doubt it is). It just doesn't disconnect. When I connected it, it didn't seem forced. I do get sound via the input so the connection seems to be working.

This is the standard male to male 1/4" cable. I feel like such an idiot. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Did I connect the wrong cable? What am I missing here?

Thank you in advance.

For real though, that might be the best option. Maybe wrap a washcloth or something soft around the edge of the stuck jack, and grip that with some pliers. That way you could apply more force, but hopefully control it so you don't snap the jack, or know when to stop if it does feel like it will break.

Does the 5000 have metal around the inputs, or are they those cheap plastic hex style 1/4" inputs?

Thanks for the responses and for the suggestion. Use more force, lol.

The 5000 has the Mic / 1/4-inch Combo jacks for the record in input and appear to be plastic. It doesn't feel like it's going to break but it doesn't feel like it's moving either lol. Will try the suggestion, thanks again.

The OP is not kidding! Put a mono plug into the combo inputs and pull it out after a few minutes, its a bit firm. But leave it in overnight and it is indeed very hard to pull out.

Obviously depends on the shape of the plug, but it can be very hard to remove.

No worries friend!

It has simply been super magnetized through the dopeness of your beats! You must have had a very good session my friend. This is a common occurrence and can easily be remedied by playing samples of this video through your machine.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKl8HJXYWhs Always have a sample of this video on hand in case you have a very dope session and need to anti-dope your connectors!
