CD/DVD for MPC5000

Hy Guys,

Who can tell me, if you also can support your MPC5000 with an ordinary CD/DVD drive from the computershop

or

must you always buy those very expensive Akai CD/DVD drive

I have yet to buy one for my mpc..... But I believe the ones at www.mpcstuff.com are 99.00 & are usually in stock. I don't mess around with computer stuff enough to know if you can use a cheaper one. I don't think it will work honestly.

The Akai branded unit is just a slimdrive that has a specific device number. This why the oems and pulls don't usually work. there are a few guys that advertise working new and used units on ebay for a bit less than $100.
