Can't mount to usb

So I've tried this a million times exactly according to the manual. I plug in the usb, hit mount...and i get nothing. I've restarted my computer and the mpc over and over but nothing. I thought this was a way for me to move around files on the hard drive, and I'd really like that ability, any suggestions?

So you dont see the hd in the usual place ie-devices(mac)??

does it read the cf card?

When I plug it in and mount it nothing happens. It says connected on the MPC, and the computer reads nothing, no changes.

try to use another usb port or another pc

I had the same issue when I first tried connecting the 5K to my computer.... After troubleshooting it turned out that it was some issue with the USB cable... Even though the conenctors were right, for some reason it worked fine as soon as I tried a different cable. Not the first time I've seen USB cables work for some devices and not others..... If you have another cable (with the proper connector types), give that a shot... Good luck!
