MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

So was working on the mpc5000. (os 2.0) last night. Usually I cut up a song into 16 pads and have at it, then add drum samples. Last night I started cutting up break beats. Someone (awesome) had posted like {THANKS} and I was using 2 from that collection.

SO since they were 2 bars to start with, I chopped them into 8, not 16 pieces. After that it showed them on the screen, I could play and edit them, no problem. Saved as a program, with samples yes. At this point I would MODE>program and assign sample slice 01 to pad one, 2 to pad 2 etc....but the samples were not in the memory although the original breaks were. There would be like several (maybe 8) copies of the same chop, with no numbers. If you played them, they were in fact the same chop, and only one of the 8 was saved, 8 times...all given the same name exactly?!?. If I returned to trim mode it would show the sample chops w/ 01,02, etc... The break was at 104 BPM, so had a name like "104 Bob James 2" I renamed it, thinking that the 104 was messing w its head, calling it Bob James 2. This I chopped up and assigned no problem. When I decided to re-chop into 16 parts, it wouldnt let me, I tried this with at least 2 breaks and Im a bit puzzled as to the problem...I know its a glitchy ****, so maybe its that, I turned it off and tried it a few times w no luck, anyone else dealt with this?

I actually ran into this problem the other night and made a post about it as well. I recorded a sample which showed up in Trim mode, but when I looked for it in Program mode to assign it to a pad, it was nowhere to be found. If I Chop, then assign to pad, it seems to work, but I don't want to chop every sound I take. I guess I could just chop into two segments, and make one chop silence at the end, but ?? really?

I'm still on the first OS, so that may be why? I'm going to pick up a CF card from Radio Shack tomorrow to upgrade. I'm still pretty new to this thing though, so it still could be user error lol

LMK if you figure this one out!

I've had issues like that and the best I can make of it is
something to do with using certain Sample/Trim Edit functions.

Seems like when I use Edit-Extract or sometimes Stereo-To-Mono
and similar, but just those. Then weird stuff happens where you see
those samples in Trim Mode but when assigning
samples to pads inside Program Edit, some don't show up at all.

But also, when scrolling through the sample list in Program Edit, instead
of the list just stopping at the last sample, if you scroll one extra increment
past the last available sample (whichever one it decided to keep before
going berzerk), you find yourself back at the first sample in the list and it's
now a continuous loop..

I'm just getting tired of having to remember all what I can't do with this machine
that I'm supposed to be able to do and if I can't, I either have to
then remember some kind of trial & error workaround or lose my shit.
I try to save frequently and I'm good about it but even simple sample
edits when you 1st turn it on & start somethin can stop u in your tracks.

Oh damn, get it?
