MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

Probably not a question limited to the 5000.
I bought the MPC5000 off eBay. Everything worked.
After a short while I got a few intermittent pads. So I accepted replacing the sensors as a consumable in a second hand MPC.
I also got black fat pads and buttons.
I used the MPC for a few weeks just playing with patterns using the built in drum kits.
Then I left it unused for a few months while sorting out my place.
Turned it on today and the pads are dead. I can't select modes or anything.

Sooo, seeing as these are basically brand new pads I am assuming there must be a loose connection or something.

I have emailed MPCstuff for any insight they might have from all the experience they must have with customers.
I am going to open it up and have a look, and I will report anything of interest. But until then.

Has anyone else had good pad sensors go dead?
Any insights?
Thanks y'all,
Roman.
