What's up forums family,

So we have pages and pages here on the 5000 most of which seems to be conversations on the benefits/shortcomings of the new MPC VS the 4000. Now I've never touched a 4000 so I can't comment where it's concerned. My experience if with the 2000XL and 3000 machines. I currently use an MPC3000 with an ASR10. My style is pretty basic. I like to chop samples, breaks and my own live instruments. I don't do a lot of processing with effects. I've never timestretched anything. I usually sample in mono. I don't usually loop. Basic. Not to say I won't ever want to mess with a lot of tweaking if I had more tools available to me.

I'm hoping someone can post a brief list of features that the 5000 sports that are significant improvemnets on the 2000/3000. I know the obvious like the synth, more memory a hard drive, 8 track recorder etc.

I have a nice analog hardware synth, all the memory I need between the 3000/ASR and a DAW so those "new" features are'nt so exciting for me.

What I want to know is besides the above mentioned features what are the benefits coming from a 2000 or 3000.

Some of my qestions are:
1. Build quality? Pads? I use a 3000, nuff said.
2. Porcessor speed? I always hated waiting for a long sample wave to draw on the 2000. How fast is the 5000?
3. True that the 5000 is not a full featured sampler like the ASR or 4000?
4. True that the ADAT channels just mirror the analog 8 outs? So 10 is max?
5. True only 2 tracks can be recorded at a time?

My interest in the new 5000 is more to do with speed and convenience. I have a wife and kids so my time to work is limited these days. It would almost be worth it for me to consider the 5000 if it would significantly speed up my work flow.

Well I don't know about the MPC5000 but I played with a MPC3500 which was the prototype MPC5000 and had the MPC5000 OS but he said it's the same thing but Akai changed it at the last minute to a MPC5000 to go in numerical sequence with what they have been releasing.
Another thing is there is a function called Cycle it is crazy I chopped up 8 bars and assigned it to only 4 pads and stacked them up and I could control the BPM of the sample by how fast I tapped the pad repeatedly it was crazy feature it's gonna make beats go to another level of sampling watch.
The 5000 is not going to be released till April cause my boy is still working on the sounds that are going to come with it.

1. Build quality is actually decent it's not all plastic the top casing is Aluminum just like the XL and 4000 and all those. The pads are Okay they are the same as a 2500 but def not as good as the 3000.

2. The thing processes really fast just like a 2500 you barely wait for anything it's almost instant.

3. Seem like a full sampler to me when I used it I sampled some records and everything just like I normally would on my XL or whatever.

4. 10 outs is max yes

5.I don't understand if you it has 8 outs you can track all eight.

I haven't played with the 5000 yet, but if the pads is the same as the 2500 then it is just as good as the 3000.
The reason for this is that the pad sensor used it the same.
The same part number has been used in the 60mkII, 2000, 2000XL, 3000, 3000LE and 2500. The only difference that you would fine would be the rubber on top, but I don't think anybody would be able to tell besides the older ones being used...

Yeah your probably right. The 5000 has alot of internal parts from the 3000 too.

The XL is not a full sampler nor is the 5000. Both are drum / phrase samplers.
