Well i don't have a hardware sampler, so i'm looking at an mpc or an mv8800.

Upto £1500 to spend.

Yeah. Definitely cop a 2500 and change it in for the 5000. Most places don't like that, but **** em.

If you get the 8800, you might wanna end up keepin that also since it's such a different machine from the 5000.

I own a lot of hardware samplers and I'm fluent with most of em. I'll be happy to help you out and make sure you avoid mistakes. peace.

Yeah, it is a bit complex .... and thats just the bloody differences between the various MPC's

I'd love to just 'back' the 2500 (if I buy one) when the 5000 arrives, but I doubt Digital Village will be up for that lol. I'll just put it on ebay, or tempt a friend

Uptil now i've been mainly software based, but after getting a korg kaoss kp3 I love mashing around on the pads so much fun

I've got most of the top soft samplers, but freakin hate poncing about programming them with a mouse

Most of my music is loop based, with VST instruments added, although I like to program my own beats.

My current equipment is as follows:-

Rackmounted PC - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (4.4ghz) Dual Core, 2gb DDR Ram, 560gb Hard Drive, 2 x 19" Widescreen LCD monitors,

M-Audio Delta 1010LT Soundcard,
M-Audio Audiophile 2496 Soundcard,

Behringer Ultra-DI800 Pro DI Box,
Yamaha MG 24/14FX analogue mixing desk,
Tannoy Reveal speakers,

Korg Kaoss KP3 Effect/Sampler,

Behringer BCF2000 midi controller,
Behringer BCR2000 midi controller,
M-Audio Axiom 49 Midi Keyboard/controller,

Encore 6 string electric guitar,
Rockbass 4 string bass guitar,
T-Bone Wireless Guitar Transmitter,

Rode NT1A Microphone,
Shure SM57 Microphone,

Beyer Dynamic DT100 Headphones,

Cubase SX 3,
AcidPro 6,
Reason 4,
Battery 3,
Guitar Rig 3,

Sound Library with 125,557 samples + 10gb Refills

Mobile recording:- 1.6Ghz Dual Core Laptop with M-Audio Fasttrack Pro audio interface.

I'm currently getting into live sound reinforcement, and am awaiting the arrival of a HK Audio Actor DX PA rig, 4 Dart monitors, DBX 31 band, dual channel graphics, Aphex Aural Exciter, DBX feedback destroyer. (hehe, all arrives in about 7 days).

So you see i'm steering away from the software based 'studio' faster than a car heading for a cliff.

I wanna knock out my tunes live, sample my guitar etc etc.

So whats the basic low down on the differences between the various MPC's
