MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

Hello,
I have recently gotten the MPC 5000. After 4 years with the 1000, I would like to transfer the tracks I did on the 1000 to the 5000. When using the JJOS on the MPC 1000, I read that when transfering 1000 beats to the 5000, it would say that the format was unreadable. What do you reccommend to get those JJ OS beats onto my 5000? Do I change the 1000 files to the official OS? I have the third to last JJ OS running...Not sure of the Number. Anyway, please help me here....I am desperate to remix these old beats on this beast of a machine!
Thanks
Andrew

I wouldn't be suprised if Akai/Numark did intentionally make JJ OS projects incompatible with the MPC 5000. That would be funny  Or perhaps not. I will try to load some JJ OS projects into my MPC 5000.

If the JJ OS projects don't work, you have no choice but to try to load them into the MPC 1000 Akai OS and then resave it.

But does that mean that the JJ OS parameters will be lost? I remembered when I switched for the akai OS to the JJ OS, alot of the volume levels were all over the place...Will that happen again? Man, I hate this!

maybe JJ will come out with an OS for the 5000 soon that will accept your other JJ OS programs from other previous MPC's... does anyone know what the length of time is that he normally comes out with OS's for new MPC's(such as the 2500 and the 1000)?

Maybe if he does do the 5000 he would do it in the same time frame as a ballpark idea

I created a simple program/sequence on my MPC 2500 using JJ OS2. I loaded it into the MPC 5000. The sequence appeared to be blank. If you try to trigger the samples in the program, you won't be able to hear them unless you turn the MPCs volume up all the way. And even then, you will only hear faint sounds. I tried changing the program settings but no luck.

Yes. I created a simple 2 bar drum loop in the MPC 2500 using Akai OS 1.23. I SAVED ENTIRE MEMORY to a folder on my CF card. I transferred the CF card to the MPC 5000 and loaded the entire folder. The drum loop played back as it should on the MPC 5000. In fact, it actually sounds better. I was monitoring via headphones. I will play around with it more tonight.
