Hello MPC comrads,

Was wondering if i can load an 8 minute wav file (song) by way of USB transfer and then play it back directly from the MPC hard drive WITHOUT loading it into RAM memory first?

Users who have the machine already would you kindly confirm this?

Thanx. :D

AKAI tech support must be confused because they say it is NOT possible without loading into ram.

All i am trying to accomplish is stereo 44.1/ 16 bit playback directly from the MPC hard drive. No production or sequencing just playback only.

Sure you can. You have to play it from HD mode. Under TRACK VIEW, check EDIT for tracks 1 and 2. Then under EDIT (F6) choose IMPORT track. Find the file on your hard drive. It'll even split a stereo file to tracks 1 and 2. You don't even need a sequence assigned to the song. And FYI, you can free record for as much HD space as you have available to 2 tracks at a time. Kinda like an 8 track digital recorder. I use it to record band rehearsals.
