When using chopshop to slice a break, I don't see any way of bringing up the 'fine' screen to manually set each region's end point perfectly. In the 2500, if you select a region's end point, the WINDOW button would light up, in the 5000 it does nothing.

Please tell me I'm missing something here.

That's ridiculous. What is the point of having a huge screen if they effectively force you to rely on your ears to finely adjust region edit points? I really don't expect the flagship MPC to have inferior features to lesser models.

You can edit the start end point with the " window " menu when you are in trim & loop mode but i didn t found the way to do it in the chopchop feature.

Except the loop editing is actually broken as well - pressing WINDOW in loop mode brings up the TRIM fine editing screen, not the loop fine screen, although you wouldn't notice this if you were looping a drum loop as typically for these samples the TRIM and LOOP points are identical. But with instrument loops, the bug is clear.

But being able to edit slice regions with a fine screen is something that's been possible for years on previous MPCs!

Currently not totally impressed with the 5000 - it is clearly a good concept but the OS isn't there yet and IMO needed some more private beta testing before public release.

I'll be posting a frank review of the 5000 soon on mpc-tutor.com.

This is how I felt when the MPC 2500 was released. And this is how I am feeling with the Fantom G right now...Roland releasing a new Fantom which doesn't have or poorly implements functions that the Fantom X has. So today I have over $5000 worth of new equipment that has all sorts of issues

Read your manuals, people. Page 83, editing samples. There's a "zoom" feature, and you can use the Q-Links to set your start and end points while being able to preview the selected sample region using pad 13.

Please read the original post - I'm not talking about the TRIM screen, I'm specifically talking about the CHOP screen. There is no 'ZOOM' feature here - in other MPCs, there always was.
