I wouldn't change the hard drive until the warranty is over and mpc5k is stable. I wouldn't want a new conflict with a unit that seems to have so many.

I don t think a new hardrive can create a conflict ...really.

What are the " so many conflicts " you have with the MPC ?

I don t have any so ....

I heard some managed to get some 4GB working also ...

I also heard every CF cards aren t compatible, that s why i created this topic.

Just leave the model you use it can help new users to buy one.

Same for HD.

Thanks

works perfect for me
Cheers!

Even with full capacity? (I remember that the 2GB limit is caused by controllers not being capable of using FAT32 file systems. A 2GB card can be fully addressed with FAT filesystem, while >2GB cards need FAT32 which confuses "old" controllers.)

I'm using a Hama 2GB CFII card - with 2GB available ;-)

I've used it so far and no problem, I think it's the only thing on my mpc that hasn't given me an issue.

As far as compact flash cards are concerned, the 5000 recognizes either Type I or Type II CF Cards up to 2gb capacity.

It can read a 8gb type II no problems here

A buddy gave me his Seagate ST310005N1A1AS-RK 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
and it works fine with a IDE to sata converter i got of the bay for like $4.99
Prior i had a western digital 640gb WD6401AALS was having problems with that drive.I sent the drive back under a RMA and they haven't got back to me,as far as if the drive was defective or what cause i couldn't even format it kept giving me errors on my mac but i did have it installed in the 5k and had the 5k format it it would only recognize the drive every 2nd power up.I would Have to power on once and the 5k wouldn't recognize the HD so i would have to shut off 5k repower up and it would work.
Kinda weird idunno.
