hey guys. i have recently made the jump from solely working on the 2kxl to incorporating ableton live 8 to my set up. i purchased the tutorial and went through the whole book and learned an awful lot.
one problem i am having is syncing the two together when it comes to tracking. when i set the mpc to master in midi clock i am having no joy. i have done everything the tutorial says...turn on metronome on both mpc and live 8 and adjust the midi clock sync delay. but it takes a while to sync...in fact at the beginning it is all over the place completely.
this is the same for mpc set as master on MTC.
i know i can put a few empty bars at the beginning if i am recording a full song. but i am recording sequences and would like to use them on the fly.
the best sync i have been able to achieve is with live 8 as master on midi clock. the metronomes are very well locked together but the mpc seems to start a fraction later than live 8. why is this? i have actually recorded the same kick pattern 3 times to compare and every time they start at slightly different times. as a result, when i loop the pattern on live 8 it is definitely not as tight as when i listen to it direct from mpc.
any ideas what is happening? cheers .
