not read all this.. but, if your just wanting to do basic multi tracking then garage band? its free with you mac no? if you want to do more then logic is great, you can do so much with it and it will improve your knowledge learning all the different techniques and there are so many free tutorials online, its massive. very cheap these days compared to what it used to be. peace out

I've been using Pro Tools for a few years now, and I would say that unless you need it for ease of transferring sessions, receiving sessions to mix, etc. to go with Logic. I use Pro Tools for the reasons listed above and also it's nice to walk into any studio and be able to sit down and use their Pro Tools setup, but if you don't plan on doing that.....Logic for your needs.

Old thread bumped by someone with 3 posts who recommend magix in two of them.
While I have to say that magix has a hell of a DAW with sequoia, I'm a bit suspicious about the bump.

I don't want to be completly off topic, so....:

I used Cubase from Atari Cubase 2.0 till Cubase SX3 and was happy most of the time. I use Reaper for a while now and have to say: DAMN good DAW but also their support and concept is A+
